Ashley Ridge’s Girls Varsity Basketball team beat Colleton County on January 26, 46-25. Two of the team’s starters were sick, one of which being lead scorer, Shamaria Meyers.

Ashley Ridge lead the first 8 minutes with a score of 12-5, and continued to score 14-7 in the second quarter.

“Other girls really stepped up,” Ashley Ridge coach Tron Grant told The Journal Scene (JS). “Having two key pieces out and still managing to win comfortably shows that we can have a lot of confidence in our bench and get production out of those players. I think that is going to be key during this region stretch. Hopefully we will put it all together against Bluffton on Friday and carry some momentum into the rest of the season.”

Colleton made many advances in the fourth quarter, but didn’t have time to pull through.

Senior McKayla Landreth scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds throughout the game.

The girls will be traveling to Bluffton February 5th, and will host Fort Dorchester February 2nd.
