Something interesting has happened to our beloved Netflix. You can now download movies and TV shows, and watch them offline.

You’ll now be able to watch your favorite TV shows or movies while waiting for the train, or while on the air plane without Wi-Fi.

Netflix announced the update on Wednesday November 30th, 2016. The feature has been requested for a long time, it’s said that the project has been in the works since June.

Amazon was the first to introduce offline streaming since September 2015. Amazon prime is where you can download movies on your electronics, but Netflix offers a wider selection. Hulu is now talking about making offline streaming possible with Hulu’s senior vice president Ben Smith saying “We’ll get there, for sure, in our industry”.

The latest update can be downloaded on phones and tablets using iOS or Android. Downloading the movie or TV show is easy. Just click the download button on the details page for a film or TV series, and you can watch it later without an internet connection. The update itself will take up to 16 gigabytes of data. With the new feature you will get a select variety you can choose to download from.

Netflix originals such as Orange Is the New BlackStranger Things, The Crown and House of Cards will be able to be downloaded. Some shows from other networks — such as Parks and Recreation, Breaking Bad, The Office, One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights and Mad Men can also be downloaded. These all ready to be downloaded and streamed offline.

So on your next road trip, or train ride make sure to binge watch all your favorites!
