“Unicorn food” has become the new obsession of social media users. Unicorn themed food has just recently become popular, and it is mouth watering to look at. With cupcakes, ice cream, coffee, and hot chocolate; all covered in sugar crystal sprinkles, pastel marshmallows, rainbow candies, even fruit cut into shapes. Starbucks has just decided to release a new drink item to their frappuccino menu.

Finally Starbucks has decided to hop on the unicorn food trend. They announced the new release of the Unicorn Frappuccino on Wednesday April 19th, 2017. The sale will last for five days and then the frappuccino will disappear onto the secret menu items.

The Unicorn Frappuccino is a sour meets sweet. It is a frozen blended drink made with a sweet dusting of pink and blue powders, blended with the milk of your choice, mango syrup and then layered with a sour blue drizzle. Social media has blown up with everybody posting their unicorn frappe on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The look of the drink is what really catches the customers eye. The fairtytale-themed drink starts off as a purple hue but turns to a shade of pink once stirred.

Although this drink is appealing to the eye it won’t be to peoples diets, a  Grande-which is a medium-made with whole milk and topped with whipped cream will set you back 410 calories and contains 59 grams of sugar.

Customers are having mixed emotions on the taste of the beverage. Some love the sour blue drizzle, while others find the drink too sour.

This is not the only new beverage on the Starbucks menu, there is supposed to be a mango frappuccino coming soon. If the mango frappuccino looks as pretty as the unicorn frappe it will be the next trend on social media.
