The House With a Clock in its Walls

The movie The House with a Clock in its Walls is set in 1955 in New Zebedee, Michigan. It’s about a boy–Lewis Barnavelt (Owen Vaccaro)–who becomes an orphan when his parents die in a car crash, causing him to move in with his warlock uncle, Jonathan (Jack Black). The house that Jonathan lives in used to belong to his ex-best friend Isaac Izard (Kyle MacLachlan) before Isaac turned evil and built a clock that would rewind time and eventually end the world. Luckily, he died before he could use it.

Lewis is eager to become a warlock like his uncle, so Johnathan teaches him. Lewis and his friend Tarby eventually open a drawer that Johnathan was told never to open, causing black magic to spill out. The boys sneak out of the house to go to the cemetery and raise Isaac from his grave using the dark-magic spell. The first thing Isaac tries to do is find the clock and use it. With the help of his uncle, Lewis goes against Isaac and tries to stop him and the ticking clock.

The 2018 film is directed by Eli Roth and produced by Grad Fischer, Eric Kripke, and James Vanderbilt. It’s based of the book The House With A Clock in its Walls written by John Bellairs. The movie is rated PG-13 and it’s a mystery, fantasy, and thriller. It lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes long.
