As we enter December, we start to feel the pressure of midterms, stress of buying gifts, and attacks from the cold weather. A great way to relax and enjoy this season is to embrace the holiday joy, and take your friends and family to an exciting local event.

Christmas Made in the South (November 30th to December 2nd)

This event, taking place on the Exchange Park Fairgrounds, will be filled with craftspeople, gourmet food, entertainment, handmade goods, photography, and many opportunities to buy gifts.

PJ’s with Santa (December 1st, 5:30pm)

Do you have younger siblings? Do you want to keep them occupied for a bit? On Short Central Avenue, kids can wear their pajamas and take pictures with Santa. All proceeds benefit the JSL School Supply Fund for Dorchester School Districts 2 & 4.

Holiday Parade (December 2nd, 3:00pm)

This annual parade starts near Colonial Lake, and finishes on Calhoun Street. Downtown Charleston will be filled with bands, floats, marchers, and performers.

Tree Lighting Ceremony (December 2nd, 4:30pm)

The 64 foot Holiday Tree of Lights will be lit in Marion Square. Many musical performers and arts organizations will be participating as well.

Wreath Building Workshop (December 8th, 10:00am)

The Winsome Winn Farm will teach you how to make your very own unique wreath. Each participant will be provided with brunch and mimosas (if you’re of age), and you can even take pictures with the farm’s goats.

Parade of Boats (December 8th, 4:30pm)

Boats decorated in festive lights will be floating along the Charleston Harbor.

Chanukah in the Square (December 9th, 4:00pm)

This event includes dancing, crafts, treats, and the lighting of a nine foot Menorah by Charlestons holocaust survivors.

Holiday Dinner Cruise (December 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, and 27th)

The Carolina Queen will take you on a two hour scenic cruise trip, while providing a gourmet buffet and live musical entertainment.
