On September 6, a fire in LA was reported to the LA fire department. After just three days, the fire had burned 19,796 acres, and after a week of burning, “it had scorched 33,312 acres, prompting mandatory evacuations” (ABC7).

As of September 22, only 17 percent of the fire had been contained.

This fire, also known as the Bobcat fire, is only one of 27 (at least) wildfires burning in California. It has burned more than 100,000 acres as of Monday and has earned the title of one of the largest wildfires in the country’s history. (CNN)
