Halloween Brings Danger for Black Cats

Riley Minor, Editor

The month of October can be a dangerous time for black cats. For almost 2,000 years, black cats have been used for sacrifices and satanic rituals during Halloween time. Not only that, but black cats have a much harder time getting adopted than other cats.

So why is this? Well, it could be because of the negative reputation black cats have unfairly garnered over the years due to the media and old superstitions.

Back in the middle ages, it was believed that witches would turn themselves into black cats, causing the people to burn “witches” and their cats together.

Since then, black cats have been tortured for no reason other than their fur year round, with the abuse rates sparking during Halloween.

How can you help? If you have a cat, especially a black cat, make sure they’re inside your house during the Halloween time to prevent them from getting snatched by a potentially dangerous person. If you’re looking to get a cat, try rescuing a black one!
